Gens Head Back To Three Hills Up Two Games To None

With the series shifting back to Cochrane for game 2 the hometown Generals had an oppertunity to take a 2-0 stranglehold on the 5 game series. Backed by a loud crowd the Generals came out flying and took an early lead on the first shot of the game. Sniper Jonny Pictin got the ball rolling after taking a pass for Danny McSween, Pictin lasered a shot top shelf and the score was 1-0 only 26 seconds in. Three Hills replied 8 minutes later on the powerplay. Then at the 15 minute mark Pictin fired home his 2nd goal on the powerplay to regain the lead. The Gens kept rolling and Mike Cann wristed a shot from the point that beat the screened Three Hills 'tender. But another Thrashers PP allowed them to awnser back and cut the lead to 1 goal heading into the dressing room.

Cochrane again started the period off red hot and McSween extended the lead to 4-2 when Kurt Briggs fed him a pass in the slot and McSween powered a wrist shot through the goalie. The goal put the Thrashers down but not out and four minutes later they cut the lead to 4-3 then eventually tied the game on another powerplay late in the period.

The Generals regrouped in between period and continued their recent trend of getting a goal early when Taylor Irvin recieved a pass from Gideon Neufeld and made no mistake going bar down only 28 seconds in. Cochrane kept coming and off a Irvin faceoff win Jason Labelle squeezed a shot past the Thrashers netminder. With momentum definatly on the Generals side Pictin capped off another strong game with his 3rd goal and hats started to rain on the ice. Three Hills got a late goal but Mike Matlo finished the scoring sliding the puck into the empty net and giving Cochrane a commanding 2-0 series lead. Tyler Fyten had another sensational game between the pipes, making big time saves throughout the game. Captain Kurt Briggs led the defence with 4 assists. The Generals will travel back to the hostile Three Hills rink looking to play another strong game and to finish off the series.
