Ryan Straschnitzki will join members of the of the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association for the Annual Charity Sledge Hockey Game on Friday.
Straschnitzki, who is from Airdrie, was left paralyzed from the chest down in 2018 when a semi-trailer ran a stop sign and collided with the Humboldt Broncos' bus in rural Saskatchewan. The tragic crash claimed 16 lives and left 13 others seriously injured.
The 2025 Charity Sledge Hockey game will see the Cannex Cochrane Generals take on members of the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association at Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Centre.
There will be a 50/50 draw during the event will proceeds from the game benefitting the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association, helping to support athletes and the growth of adaptive sports in the community.
The game is set for Friday, January 24 at SLS Centre Totem 1. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m.
