Generals Crush The Rock

The Generals chalked up a convincing victory on home ice Friday night against the Rimbey Rock.  It was a 17-5 romp for the home team with the line of Danny McSween, Jonny Pictin and Darren Schmautz accounting for 10 combined goals.  It was all offence for the majority of the game as Cochrane was able to hem the Rock in their end.  Rimbey’s tender got a workout as the Gen’s fired 63 shots his way.  Although it was an important win, which brought the win streak to 5 straight,  the team’s defense was soft in the 3rd period and allowed Rimbey to get 3 preventable goals. 
 
The first period was kept close by some good goaltending.  Cochrane had 23 shots on net but only had a 3-2 advantage on the scoreboard.  The tides changed in the second for the Gens, as they kept the pressure on and were able to grab a 8-2 advantage.  Things only got worse for Rimbey in the third as they tired from a relentless Cochrane squad.  The Gens were able to put another 9 by the Rock to bring the total to an unbelievable 17 goals.
 
Points in the game went to Danny Mcsween (4 goals, 2 assists), Darren Schmautz (4 goals, 1 assist), Jonny Pictin (2 goals, 3 assists), Mike Cann (1 goal, 2 assists), Gideon Neufeld (2 assists), Taylor Irvin (1 goal, 4 assists), Sean Erwin (2 assists), Mike Matlo (2 goals, 3 assists), Blaine Amiote (1 goal), Jason Labelle (2 goals, 2 assists) and Kashtin Gordon (1 assist).  Tyler Fyten held the fort in goal for the win.
 
Final shots on goal were 63 for Cochrane and 20 for Rimbey.
