One of the off-ice highlights of the Cochrane Generals season is just days away.

The junior hockey team’s annual Pub Night returns Saturday, Nov. 15, promising mouth-watering food, and great company.

The event has grown so popular it outgrew its original venue and now fills the Cochrane Lions Event Centre, where fans, alumni and friends of the Gens gather to celebrate local hockey spirit.

A $50 ticket includes a smoked brisket dinner — a signature dish from the Butchery Block — live music, a silent auction and the much-anticipated Players Auction.

It’s a lighthearted tradition that doubles as a key fundraiser for the club, now in its 41st season.

Club president Rick Richards says the players’ auction is a highlight. Those who successfully bid for a player do get something in exchange if they so wish.

“The players’ auction is a big hit,” says Richards. “People bid on players and get a few hours of their time. Whether it’s yard work, a small repair, or help around the house, the players are happy to pitch in.”

Richards says local businesses and longtime supporters have once again donated an impressive lineup of silent auction items, helping to make the night one of the team’s biggest fundraisers of the year.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by e-transfer to treasurer@cochranegenerals.com.

Doors open at 6 p.m., the meal is at 7, followed by the players’ auction at 8.
