Cochrane Generals 9       Okotoks Bisons 6

The Generals skated to a 9-6 victory in their home opener Saturday night against division rival Okotoks.  The Bisons played a spirited game and gave Cochrane all they could handle with a feisty forecheck, but in the end it was the strength of the Generals’ special team play that clinched the win.  Shorthanded Cochrane shut down Okotoks by killing 7 of 7 chances while the potent powerplay capitalized on 4 of 8 opportunities.  The victory gives the Generals a record of 2-1 on the season.  Scoring in the game was Dave Sissons (2), Andrew Twoyoungmen (2), Joel Grant, Tanner Boothby, Zach Strauss, Mike Cann and Jonny Pictin.  Sissons earned first star of the game followed by Cann and Kolton Brown.

Cochrane Generals 5    Airdrie Thunder 6

The Generals traveled to Airdrie Friday to renew the ongoing rivalry. The game started quick with Airdrie capitilizing on a Cochrane turnover to open the scoring 25 seconds into the game. The Generals soon tied the game up with a laser by rookie Jonny Pictin and the game was a see-saw battle from there. Each time Airdrie took the lead the Generals came right back and tied it up. Cochrane took the lead early in the third on a goal by newcomer Zach Strauss but, like the Generals had been doing all game, the Lightning soon tied the score. It remained 5-5 until late in the third when Airdrie scored on the powerplay to get and keep the lead at 6-5.  Other goalscorers for Cochrane were Tanner Boothby, Dave Sissons and Chad Willis. The Generals home opener is this Saturday October 11 at 7:30 PM at Spray Lakes Arena. See you there!
